Relationship Coaching / Carla Smith
Grow
together.
Relationship coaching for couples who want to understand one another, communicate more openly and take practical steps towards a better way of relating.

When connection
feels difficult.
You may be having the same arguments, feeling distant or facing a new stage of life together. I work with couples who want space to explore what is happening between them.
Repeating arguments
Conversations return to the same disagreements, and it becomes difficult to feel heard or understand each other.
Feeling disconnected
You share a home or a routine, but feel as though you are living separate lives and have lost a sense of connection.
Facing a new chapter
Changes such as children leaving home or different expectations for the future leave you unsure how to move forward together.
What we can work on
More understanding.
Honest connection.
I give both of you space to speak and help you consider each other’s perspective. Together, we explore your expectations, the patterns between you and practical ways to relate differently.
Communication and listening
Practise expressing what you feel and need, while listening to what your partner is trying to communicate.
Expectations and understanding
Explore what each of you wants from the relationship, where your expectations differ and where compromise may be possible.
Connection in everyday life
Try agreed conversations, shared activities or interests that help you put the work into practice between sessions.

Space to listen.
Room to connect.
01
Hear both perspectives
We begin with what brought you to coaching, giving each of you space to speak and helping you understand one another.
02
Agree practical steps
We explore what you want to change and agree conversations or activities you can try together.
03
Reflect together
We review what you tried, what felt different and where you found it difficult, then decide how to build on the work.
My manner is gentle and my approach is direct. I help you consider how your actions affect each other and make the conversation more reflective and constructive. Both partners need a willingness to participate and practise the work beyond our sessions.
Practical questions
Before we
begin.
Do we need to be in a crisis?
No. You may want to reconnect, discuss different expectations or explore how to keep growing together. Coaching can begin with a wish to understand one another better.
What if one of us is unsure?
One partner can make the first enquiry. It is understandable to feel hesitant, but both partners need to be willing to participate in joint coaching. We can discuss your situation and the support you are looking for.
What if we want different things?
You do not have to arrive with the same goal. We can explore both perspectives and where compromise may be possible. I can guide the conversation, but I cannot promise a particular outcome or that you will stay together.
Can we meet online?
Yes. Sessions can take place online or in a consulting room. We can discuss your preference when you enquire.
Is relationship coaching the same as therapy?
My role is coaching, focused on communication, understanding and practical action. I do not treat addictions or serious mental health difficulties. Where abuse or other needs call for specialist support, I refer to an appropriate professional.
